Personal Skin Care Regime

Daily Skin Care Regime

A good skin care routine, morning and night, is essential to ensure that the skin regains and maintains its youthful appearance. A good cleanser is the starting point of any such routine, as well as the perfect way to end the day. A good cleanser must have a skin-compatible PH. A light foaming action that rinses off easily is best as it should remove all traces of makeup and impurities, ensuring a squeaky-clean face and decoltage without blocking the pores or drying out the skin.

Cleansing of the face and decoltage should be followed by applying a good therapeutic toner which does more than just refresh the skin. It should have a gentle astringing toning action which refines and diminishes open pores and prevents impurities from clogging them. If the toner contains a blend of floral waters, it will further benefit the skin by replenishing natural anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals and will provide a therapeutic, refreshing, hydro boost which will leave the skin revitalized and alive. Cleansing and toning gives the skin a refreshing wake-up call!

This should be followed with the morning or evening regime suited to your skin type. A good moisturiser to moisturise and protect the skin from the harsh elements and environmental pollution. An effective moisturiser with built-in hydrator which provides the skin with a moisture mantle, attracts moisture to the skin and helps retain it throughout the day. Ensure that your moisturiser has adequate hydrating and feeding properties as needed for your skin type.

It is vital to ensure that your cream and its active ingredients penetrate the skin and get absorbed through the dermal layers, for the cream to provide the properties it’s purported to have. A good, effective cream does not require excessive rubbing, but rather a light application massage, after which it should be left to absorb naturally and begin its work. A fast acting cream which gives instantly visible and long term results is best, as it is both encouraging and rewarding to see the complexion coming to life as you apply the product with anticipation of ongoing results with ongoing benefits.

The morning skin care routine should be quick and easy, providing the skin with a fresh “canvas” to apply your makeup on. However it is the evening routine that is crucial for keeping the skin looking young. It is during the resting period that the skin needs the correct nutrients to replenish and restore itself so that the complexion can look radiant and revitalized. Going to bed with your makeup on ages the skin and blocks the pores, promoting blackheads and impurities.

Furthermore, without adequate nightly nourishment, sleep-lines and creases are promoted and embedded into the skin resulting in loss of skin elasticity and loss of the resilience to regenerate itself. A nourishing cream with firming, anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle properties is essential to replenish, restore and replace into the skin what the stresses of the day have depleted. Night-time regime is also psychologically therapeutic as it provides a pampering, de-stressing treat for the skin, mind and senses. Missing out on this most important night-time routine will result in parched, dehydrated, prematurely ageing skin.

In addition to this basic cleanse, tone, moisturise and nourish day and night routine, one needs an eye cream specially designed for the delicate eye area. An all-in-one eye cream is the better way to go as it should provide not only anti-ageing, anti-wrinkle and firming properties, but should also have properties to fight dark circles and puffiness. A light moisturising cream with heavy-duty anti-ageing properties, but gentle enough to apply all around the eye area to combat sagging and wrinkles, is ideal.

Like the eye area, the skin on the throat and decoltage is also fragile and thin, has no sebaceous glands and tends to age prematurely if neglected. This skin needs densifying and extra care to combat wrinkles, crepiness (or turtle neck skin) and sagging. A special heavy-duty neck, bust and body cream which has lifting and skin-densifying properties is essential and should be applied day and night like the eye cream. Choose one that specifically has restructuring, plumping, lifting, firming, anti-wrinkle and nourishing properties to combat all the signs of ageing in one product!

 Weekly Skin Care Regime

Exfoliating the skin is necessary to promote the regeneration of skin cells. It unblocks pores and refines and polishes the skin, giving it a deep cleansing action. This also enables the actives in your cream to penetrate the dermal layers better. A purifying, lifting mask suited to your individual skin type lifts impurities and freshens the complexion, leaving the skin glowing, revitalized and radiant.

Exfoliate the skin once or twice a week to eliminate blackheads and dead skin cells and follow with a purifying, lifting mask, and then your normal skin care routine. This weekly routine will give the skin a quick “pick-me-up” and will boost the regeneration and purification of the skin.
